She reported that consumers “Turik and Balk are seeking class action status for a lawsuit alleging that these travel sites, as well as Priceline (PCLN) and others, not only failed to offer consumers the best deals, but actually conspired with several large hotel chains to fix prices and prevent competitors from offering you cheaper rooms.”
Well it’s not really surprising – the hotels depend on the large online travel sites for a big piece of their business. So they have no choice but to smile while Mssrs Expedia, Travelocity and Priceline have them by the short and curlies (sorry old Naval expression I picked up from my dad – no idea what it means!)
Honestly, what is the world coming to? We got the internet and everything was lovely – then it started getting horrible with worms, bots, viruses and spam emails galore. Then our cell phones turned into mini computers with email coming in 24/7 and our kids won’t even answer their phones – they just text.
You can’t trust anything online any more. For all you know I am not a real person at all. I am just sitting here in cyberspace making this all up.

Isn’t that insulting – I can ‘hear’ your frustration in being labelled this way. Please be assured that I brag about my wonderful travel agent and the amazing (and i believe fairly priced) trips she has arranged for me. I constantly recommend you to others, tell them how safe I felt because of your care and tell them how you personalized our trips even when we had some very unusual requests. I would not have had the amazing experiences I have had without you – if you had told me five years ago that I would visit South Africa, Uganda, Mozambique, Cambodia, Vietnam and Scotland (including stranraer) I would have stared in disbelief.
Your dad’s comment is one I’ve heard before – you should check out the meaning someday. Once you are over being angry and have sent her comments to cyber space you’ll get a laugh out of it. Or email me and I’ll send you an explanation ( I used to teach sex education so am up on my slang)

Hi Linda – you have always been what I would refer to as a real Gutsy Woman. Trekking through the Ugandan bush up those slippery wet hills on your gorilla hunt – Wow! Or spending a night nursing baby chimps – or riding in a bullock cart in Cambodia.
