Has it ever happened to you? If you spend any time at airports you get so used to those plaintive pleas for Mr or Mrs X to come to Gate 5 as their flight is ready to depart. You wonder where they are? Having a drink? In the loo? You can imagine when they realise that the announcement is actually for them. The panic. The adrenaline. The running down corridors (yes we have all been there). The speeded up running down moving pavements. (And while I am on that subject please people. If you are not going to walk on the moving payments just stand to one side….. OK rant over.)
So they arrive at the check in desk – all breathless and usually apologetic. Then they board and everyone on the plane gives them a collective sour face as they struggle down the aisle with their carry on luggage. And…. you know what’s coming next. There is no more room in the overhead bin. So another hold up while the flight attendant takes his carry on up to the front so it can be stored with the first class passengers because now it is too late to go into the hold.
Oh – poor people. It can happen. But can it happen twice? Can you miss one flight – rebook onto the next one and then miss that? Seriously? What’s hilarious about this is that no figure of authority comes to take control of this guy. But check out his kids. They are SO embarrassed. You can almost hear them saying – “Hey it’s OK Dad, I really didn’t want to go to Disneyworld.”
