Have you ever been photo bombed?

It’s actually not anything new.  Remember those family photos where your pesky little brother or sister would ruin the shot by pulling faces or waving their hands around over your head.  It seems now that this has turned into a trend known as “photo bombing”.  You might recall this famous shot shared by a couple on Canadian TV when a squirrel photo bombed them.  They had set up the camera on remote but this curious squirrel just had to see what’s going on.  Animals make the best subjects of course – because there’s no ulterior motive.  Just pure 100% curiosity – which turns out to be 100% charming and a real keeper.

Of course there is the other kind of photo bombing where someone sets out to just ruin the shot just for the fun of it.  Some of them are just too rude to show in this blog but I must admit having laughed out loud at photos of people posing sweetly for the shot while someone in the background moons the camera.

But this is not a new phenomenon – years ago I heard the story of some Australian tourists in South Africa who left their cameras on the beach while they went scuba diving.  Some jokers got hold of the cameras and took a whole reel (yes it was that long ago) of dubious shots of various anatomical parts and then carefully replaced the cameras in the girls’ backpacks.  Mmm – what a shock they got back in Sydney when they developed the prints.

Have you ever been photo-bombed?  I would love to hear.
