The whole world is waiting

Yes that’s right – but not in the way you think. Forget about picturing a world full of wonders, waterfalls, incredible wildlife, bustling cities, ancient empires just waiting, waiting, waiting to be discovered by you.

Nope – the whole world is waiting alright – waiting on hold! Believe it or not this was the jingle I heard while, well you guessed it, waiting on hold. Maybe they should think about changing that one. It kinda went with a cute little beat along the following lines …..

“XXXXX Vacations ….. the whole world is waiting”

Oh, so that is why I am sitting here listening to your on hold music and jingles for hours and hours and hours because I am in a line up with the whole world waiting to get through to you. Figures.

I’d like to make a suggestion to our airlines and suppliers – if you have long hold times we don’t want to hear your jingles. Make us laugh with funny on hold messages like some of these –

Because 8 hours of the same old songs on and on and on could cause us to go round the bend. ….. Oh hang on – in between the music a message that abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Well of course, it is not the fault of the people working the phones. So let’s continue to have a laugh. Putting this blog together while listening to the same song over and over and over again is getting to me. So I need to tune out and have a giggle instead. Look what I found online

Yep …. still on hold. Apparently, Israel is a good place to go right now, so the lady on the phone told me. Oh now she gave me an update about Brussels (not the sprouts). Apparently the HQ of NATO and the home of chocolate. Hmmm. That was not very interesting but whatever. I thought chocolate came from South and Central America but at this stage of the game my brain is about to go into standby mode and I can feel funny crackling sounds.

Maybe if they had trivia questions and you could input the answers online. Or perhaps they should change the crackly music to calming meditation. Mmmm, might just put me totally to sleep. Let’s see we got on hold at 10 am this morning, it is now 2.30 pm.

Just got through – now I am going to shut the hell up!

    1. Thank you Val and the same to you. You will love your cruise – I have done 3 this year so far just checking them out and with all the new protocols I felt very safe – and what a thrill to be out and about in the world. Have a safe and wonderful Christmas and here’s to 2022!

  2. I thought Air Canada’s motto was “We’re not happy until you’re not happy.” similar to the now extinct PWA’s which seemed to stand for “Please wait awhile”.
As we approach Christmas and New Year, I expect that you.re going to be driven crazy. Good thing that you had those 3 working cruises to relax. They looked very nice.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

    1. I love that. Years ago when Air Canada took over Canadian Airlines one of my colleagues there said she went on her orientation course with Air Canada and the first lesson was how to say no in a hundred different ways 🙂 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – can’t wait for 2022. Has to be better, right ????
